Q: Do I need experience with student government in high school to be in FCC?

A: No, it is certainly not a requirement. We look for an array of different things, including spirit, involvement, and creativity.

Q: How many people get into FCC?

A: 50 freshmen are selected each year.

Q: What will my role be in the organization?

A: As a group of 50 freshman, FCC will work together to plan meetings, organize events, and volunteer around the UA and Tucson communities. Once selected into FCC we will hold elections for E-Board positions if you would like to hold a leadership role.

Q: Are you allowed to be in Blue Chip and FCC at the same time?

A: Yes. Blue Chip and FCC are completely different organizations and you are allowed to be a part of both if you choose.

Q: Are there any limitations on the application?

A: No. Feel free to be as creative as you want to be! As long as you follow the guidelines and it is appropriate you are able to do what you want with the application as long as it fits in the envelope. In previous years we have had applicants decorate each page and even make pop-up books. If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact us!

Q: How does the selection process work?

A: In order to receive an interview, you must pass the application process. Then, those individuals that move on must sign up for an interview. Each interview includes an individual and group aspect.

Q: How do I prepare for the interview?

A: Wear business casual attire. Other than that, bring a smile and make sure to have fun! This interview is not meant to be stressful. We just want to see your personality. We will already have your application on file, so you will not need to bring it.

Q: When will I find out if I made it into FCC?

A: Letters with the results will be available for pickup in the ASUA office. You will be notified by email for that due date. The individuals who are selected to be a part of FCC will need to keep in mind that there will be a mandatory orientation.

Q: What is the time commitment like for FCC?

A: There are mandatory weekly meetings at a time to be determined by the future FCC class. In the past, there are have been about 4-5 activities a month (philanthropy, social, sporting events, etc), but these are not all mandatory. the great thing about FCC is that it is what you make out of it. However, the people that get the most out of FCC are the people that attend every event.

Q: Is it possible to be a part of both FCC and Greek life?

A: Yes! Many people in FCC have been a part of Greek life. The weekly meetings will not conflict with Monday chapter meetings.

Q: How much does FCC cost?

A: There are dues of about $20 each semester. Other costs depend on the events and apparel that the group is interested in. Not all of these costs are mandatory. Also, there is fundraising involved throughout the year.
